People Training for Dogs

“We really are People Training for Dogs. The more we can help an owner understand what their dog is asking, the more harmonious we can make their lives. Dogs generally want to please and our job is to help the dog understand what is expected of them and, in turn, to help the owner know how to communicate to the dog what those desired and undesired behaviors are.”

– Ninette Franz Walsh, Founder Dog Guru, LLC

About Ninette

Ninette has been training dogs for over 20 years. She started rehabilitating rescues who were abused, abandoned or suffered from shelter shock to the point where they could be “adoptable”. She has experience with behavior and socialization issues, Obedience, Tracking, Protection, Scent Detection, Therapy, Emotional Support, Service, Herding, and all manner of dog sports. She has competed in Obedience, Rally, and now her primary focus is competing nationally in dog agility with her Border Collies. Ninette started Dog Guru to meet the needs of the growing number of “pandemic puppies” who developed behavioral and socialization issues due to the pandemic. She is passionate about these dogs, and all dogs, and works to have all dogs lead safe, confident, well-mannered, and happy lives.

Training plans

Hourly in Home Training

Your trainer will come to your home and teach you and your dog all the essential skills to coexist peacefully.

Day Training

Just like your kids going off to Kindergarten. You drop your dog off at school, or your dog is picked up in the morning and dropped off at the end of the day.

Board and Train

Your dog will be fully immersed into your trainer's family pack and will be trained alongside their personal dogs.

What to expect

Our training is based on positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors. We use games, affection, and play to encourage learning and relationship building. Beyond basic obedience, we focus largely on Impulse Control. Lack of Impulse Control is the root of what many people believe are “bad” behaviors

In the end you and your dog will be comfortable with:

  1. Recall – various distances with and without distractions
  2. Leave-It/ Drop it
  3. Place
  4. House manners – jumping, counter surfing, barging through doors, crate training, potty, handling
  5. Sits and Downs/Stays
  6. Leash Walking
